Participants In Round 2 Of The AIM Leaders And Enablers Programme Announced

We are delighted to announce the participants in Round 2 of the AIM Hallmarks Leaders and Enablers Programme. Both programmes aim to equip participants to help museums prosper using the AIM Hallmarks and the programmes combine insight from museum practitioners with new perspectives from the broader charities sector. This combination offers fresh ways to think about the challenges museums face. Participants on the Leaders programme are either museum directors or senior managers, while the Enablers are museum development staff and consultants.

Both groups will take part in a series of Residential learning events over the coming months, with the opportunity to support each other through Action Learning sets. Hilary Barnard and Ruth Lesirge, our programme facilitators, both bring a wealth of senior management and governance experience and are constantly on the lookout for interesting examples and case studies which will get debate and discussion flowing.

The programmes have been supported by Arts Council England with additional funding support from the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and AIM. AIM would like to congratulate all successful candidates taking part in both programmes.

AIM Hallmarks Learning Opportunities – Deadline Soon

The Association of Independent Museums (AIM) has recently launched two new development programmes as part of its Hallmarks of Prospering Museums programme with a closing date of 5pm on 29 January for all applications. Both training programmes will help participants use the principles of the AIM Hallmarks of Prospering Museums to strengthen the museums they lead or work with.

Museum Leaders Programme

AIM has recently launched the new UK wide Museum Leaders programme to support people who lead AIM member museums. Applicants must be the most senior member of staff in their museum and will usually be the Director or Chief Executive of their organisation. Where a museum is part of an umbrella body, we are looking for applicants who have sufficient autonomy to lead significant change in their museum. The following places are available across the UK:

England – 12 places supported with funding from Arts Council England

Wales – 1 place supported with funding from The Federation of Museums & Art Galleries of Wales and AIM

Scotland/Wales/ Northern Ireland – 2 places supported using funding from the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation. Both these places are open to two people from across these regions.

Museum Enablers Programme

For the first time, the museum sector has an in depth training programme specifically for people who help museums prosper and thrive such as museum development officers, freelance consultants and anyone else whose role is to support museums in England.

Funded by Arts Council England, the programme will be led by experienced third sector consultants HBRL Consulting and will help participants to understand the issues that impact on organisational resilience and to develop their own consultancy skills to support museums more effectively.
