There’s no denying that without the hard work and support of volunteers, that many museums and heritage sites simply wouldn’t be able to operate. Each year, thousands of volunteers across the UK willingly devote their spare time to help out at museums and heritage sites across the whole sector and many AIM member museums and sites are run entirely by volunteer teams – what would we do without them!
To celebrate the work of this amazing group of people, the Museums + Heritage Awards in partnership with AIM have just announced a new Volunteers of the Year Award with the winners to be announced during the Museums + Heritage Awards for Excellence on Wednesday, May 18 in the Historic Staterooms of 8 Northumberland Avenue.

The Volunteers of the Year Award:
*Is free to enter
*Is open to any volunteer(s) from the whole museum and heritage sector – not just for independent museums
*Nominations close at midnight on Monday 29 February 2016
*Has a simple application process
Tamalie Newbery, Executive Director of AIM says: “The Association of Independent Museums is partnering this award on behalf of all its members and the wider community of heritage organisations out there who are supported by an incredible number of volunteers every year. Many of these organisations could not exist without the dedication and commitment of these individuals and they deserve to be recognised and celebrated”.
