The historic paddle steamer PS Medway Queen is currently being fitted out and is berthed on Gillingham Pier. Saved from its fate as a derelict, a core group of volunteers formed the MQPS to save the ship which saved 7,000 Allied servicemen during the evacuation of Dunkirk in 1940.
The Medway Queen Preservation Society is restoring the historic paddle steamer Medway Queen, with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and EU regional development fund. The hull has been completely re-built at Bristol, and is moored at Gillingham, Kent.
