Arts Council England: New Strategic Fund For Research Grants

*This post has been sourced via Arts Council England updates*

We wanted to let you know that Arts Council England launched a new strategic fund for research grants yesterday.

With the launch of our refreshed strategy Great art and culture for everyone the time was right to build upon previous reviews of research and refresh our thinking on the impact that arts and culture can have on the cultural, social, economic and educational landscape. We identified gaps for future research commissions in The value of arts and culture to people and society – an evidence review and are now launching a fund for arts organisations and researchers to explore these themes in depth.

The research grants programme seeks to build our collective knowledge and deepen our understanding of the impact of arts and culture, specifically:

  • furthering our knowledge: Deepening the sectors understanding of the impact of arts and culture
  • increasing capacity: Promote greater collaboration and co-operation between the arts and cultural sector and research partners
  • working in partnership: Working in partnership with others to build and improve the evidence base around the impact of arts and culture on individuals and society
  • Influencing: Influencing the policy landscape and commissioning activity through robust and credible research.

Applications for this fund must be a joint collaboration between an arts and/or cultural organisation and a research partner.

The deadline for completed applications is Thursday 12 March 2015.

Please see our website for full guidance for the research grants programme and our other funds.
