Torquay Museum is Devon’s oldest Accredited Museum and the third largest in the region. It has a number of separate interactive galleries ranging from famous Devon explorers to William Pengelly’s extensive finds of human and animal remains from Kent’s Cavern.
With a 400,000 item collection (including UK’s oldest human fossil) the Museum boasts research links with Oxbridge, The Natural History Museum, and American and European partners. It has unique links with Agatha Christie and the English Riviera Global Geopark
The establishment of Torbay Museums Trust (TMT) from 1 April 2015 marks a new ground-breaking venture in Torbay’s heritage sector. The Trust is seeking to appoint a Board of up to 12 Trustees to oversee and drive the further development of the Museum including improved exhibitions and galleries, events, fundraising, educational work and closer working with Torre Abbey and Brixham Heritage Museum.
