Claim Welsh Conference Costs From AIM

The New Year is nearly upon us, and events and conferences being held in 2015 that will appeal to anyone working in the museum and arts sectors are being unveiled. One of these is the ‘Federation of Museums and Art Galleries of Wales Conference 2015’ which is taking place on Thursday 12th March 2015 at The Cardiff Story Museum situated in the Old Library in Cardiff, Wales.

The theme for the conference is ‘Museums, Tourism & Sustainability’ and speakers include Ken Skates AM (The Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism), Jon Munro (Visit Wales), Adrian Greason-Walker (Wales Tourism Alliance) and Helen Bradley (Conwy CBC). A perspective on how the theme impacts English museums will come from Adrian Green (Salisbury Museum) and Zara Matthews (Harborough Museum).

Networking opportunities, idea sharing and the chance to meet other museum staff and volunteers in the beautiful setting of Wales’ capital city means that this conference promises to be an enjoyable and worthwhile event for AIM members. Conference booking fees are: Federation members: £25, Volunteers and students: £10, Non Members: £50

To assist AIM members from across the UK that are interested in attending this conference, AIM is inviting applications to its ‘Training Grants’ scheme to enable museum staff, Trustees and volunteers to claim eligible costs. We can grant aid: fees, accommodation (only where distance travel is involved) and travel costs. The maximum grant is £300 and receipt of previous AIM grants will be taken into account where relevant. We cannot support retrospective applications.

You can find details of our Training Grants here: http://www.aim-museums.co.uk/content/aim_training_grant/

So why should museums attend next year? “The conference will be a great opportunity for local authority run and independent museums to come together and network,” said John Marjoram, Development Officer at the Federation of Museums and Art Galleries of Wales. “We are grateful for AIM’s support in assisting with costs as we want to encourage people to attend.”

Please note that there is priority booking for the conference for Federation members until January 9th when places will be opened to others. For a conference booking form please email: john@arenig.demon.co.uk
