This year the Marches Network has been working with independent string quartet The Stringcredibles in partnership with 12 West Midlands museums.
Through performances of ‘Tunes from the Trenches: Looking Back to World War One’, The Stringcredibles are marking the centenary of the First World War with audiences of schools and families at each of the 12 museums. This commemorative project is generously supported by Arts Council England’s Grants for the Arts funding.
As participant feedback demonstrates, this cross-cultural partnership has been supporting young people to engage with museums and their collections in new ways, changing their perceptions of our venues.
Today they will perform at the Elgar Birthplace Museum, with BBC Midlands Today’s Satnam Rana covering the show. To date, The Stringcredibles have also performed at Ironbridge Gorge Museum, Bilston Craft Gallery, Black Country Living Museum, Museums Worcester, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, The Barber Institute of Fine Arts and Walsall Leather Museum with upcoming performances…
