Plans are in full swing for Kids in Museums’ 2014 Takeover Days this November, when young people across Wales and England will be taking over their museums and showing us all how it should really be done!
Taking Over Museums Day is a celebration of children and young people’s contribution to museums, galleries and heritage sites. It’s a day on which they are given meaningful roles, working alongside staff and volunteers to participate in the life of the museum.
In England Takeover day will be 21st November 2014. Last year over 115 organisations were involved across England and over 3,000 children and young people. They were museum directors, front of house, curators, conservators, tour guides, website designers and catering staff. In Wales it is on 13th November 2014.
Unfortunately Kids in Museums is not able to specifically support Takeover Days in Scotland this year, though they would love it if Scottish museums take part, and they hope to be back in Scotland in 2015.
